The Anger Management Program (AMP) provided by Solid Foundation Counseling Services LLC is an educational program appropriate to address offenses of violence between strangers, roommates, adult siblings, parent/adult child, in-laws, and neighbors. It is designed to serve those facing assault and battery, disorderly conduct, breach of peace and other charges where anger management is an appropriate sentence/course of treatment.
The AMP focuses on teaching participants several alternatives to acting out with anger or rage. It helps participants to understand themselves and recognize how their behaviors affect others. Participants will analyze how thoughts and emotions affect decision making and responsible behavior; will learn and apply strategies to manage stress; and learn strategies for preventing and resolving conflicts.
The program is a 12 week Psycho-Educational treatment program. Each session will last between an hour and 1.5 hours (60-90 minutes). Given the brevity of the program and the need for the information presented to have the most impact, only two unexcused absences is permitted. That absence may be made up.
Group sessions will be co-educational. However, if there is more than one offender involved in a particular case, both would not be allowed to attend the same class. The anger management groups are open-ended, meaning that new clients can enter an ongoing group at any time.
Group sessions are offered on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Detailed listing can be found here
Solid Foundation Counseling Services AMP is structured around the Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) program that teaches participants different responses to Anger and assists participants how to cope with anger once it is triggered. The program’s goals are to help participants:
